Photo of the Week #2

Death Valley sunset.

With the weather starting to cool down a little my thoughts are turning back to the deserts here in the Southwest. It's time to start planning my winter trip to DV!

Winter is a great time to photograph the low deserts. The daytime temperatures are usually mild and comfortable and the sun stays lower in to the horizon creating a nice warm light for most of the day.

This image was captured at sunset, just as the last light was leaving the valley. What looks like snow in the foreground is actually dried salts and minerals. There are an unlimited number of images like this all over the park.

If you haven't been to photograph Death Valley - make this the year!
